How do...
you think that Jim Thomas did in his closing arguments?
I thought JT laid it on real thick; almost gaggingly so.
First of all, whoever thought it would be a good idea to bring those little boys to Court today should be shot. Bad form! Just grandstanding.
JT did not give many specifics on things, as the Prosecution did. It was everyone else's fault but Kwame's.
The whole thing about the monetary gifts was ridiculous. Sorry, but if one year your bank account's at one level and the next it's $840k higher, SOMETHING IS GOING ON!
He mentioned somebody whose testimony he should not have reminded them of. Can't remember whose, now. But overall I thought Thomas did the best he could with what he's got.
Like getting dealt a poor hand in cards. What else can you do?
Hi Bloggers. I've been following Kwame Kilpatrick since ML Elrick amd Jim Schaefer first exposed the state grant money going to Carlita Kilpatrick's company. Her company that was created just before the awarding of the grants and for the sole purpose of receiving the grant money. Why hasn't her company (her passion) operated since those funds dried up???
Bottom line regarding how the Defense did their jobs.... I am totally fine with the Defense defending their clients. However...the defense here didn't just defend their clients, they offended everyone with distortions of the truth to sway the jury from the facts that have been presented. I find it hard to believe that the Defense lawyers all believe that their clients are innocent of ALL the counts. I say this because THEY asked the Jury to find all the Defendants NOT GUILTY of ALL counts.
Please. Keep the pressure on the Government to prove their case and destroy it with facts that prove otherwise, but why did they battle back by distorting the truth?
Some say they didn't. I say that's exactly what they did and they know it.
If these defendants walk, most will say the Defense Lawyers did a great job.
I say it now and I'll say it whether they walk or not. The Defense in this case should be ashamed of themselves for attempting to obstruct justice.. What else can you call it..
1. Kwame and Carlita socked away lots of cash before he became Mayor?
2. All that money came to Kwame as gifts from people who loved him so much that they felt the only way to show him was to shower him with cash? Can you show me any politician in History who received such a thing?
3. When have you ever heard of a Mayor of a major city like Detroit get involved in the detais of a contract (contracts) to the extent Kwame did when he has at least three layers of Management between himself and the contracts?
4. Bernard? Invoices? Receipts? Since when do you give a consultant YOU are paying a case of booze? Why would you treat YOUR consultant like he's YOUR customer? Would You ever let YOUR Consultant talk to YOU like Bernard talked to his Mother f******* customer? C'mon.. Evelyn says that this is the way this business works? Nice distortion Gerald. Receipts? Invoices? Receipts?
5. Bobby? Really Defense Lawyers? You see no collusion here...none?
6. For the defense to say that certain texts could have been taken out of context? Ok
For the Defense to say that all text WERE taken out of context? Hmm
